Yes! Paleo is the bomb.com! You read my website so you know I’m all about cheese and carbs. I ditched those in an effort to make a lifestyle change and drop a few extra pounds. If you haven’t heard of Paleo, it is a diet based on mimicking what cavemen ate. During that time Trader Joe’s had not yet come about to enrich everyones lives so they had to work with what they had. The only foods that these cavemen and cavewomen could eat were foods they could find themselves such as: meats, seafood, vegetables, fruits, and nuts. Going on this diet meant that I had to say goodbye to my favorite foods: bread, chips, cheese, crackers, pizza, and most importantly…pasta. Even quinoa and rice are not allowed on this diet so I prepared myself to start by jumping in and quitting my yummy favorites cold turkey. I cleaned out our fridge and cabinets and headed to Publix on a mission.
Our grocery bill was (way) higher than normal but we were determined to get back in shape. I work a normal 40 hour a week job, have my R+F business, and am committed to growing my blog in 2016 all while maintaining somewhat of a social life and spending time with my family. Getting engaged, moving into a house, and switching jobs led to a lot of nights of “lets just get something quick and easy.” This also led to a few extra unwanted pounds. No matter how many times I went to Orange Theory or ran a ton of miles I couldn’t outrun my bad eating habits. People always say abs are made in the kitchen and those people are completely right. After a little over a week of Paleo I’m down SIX POUNDS! As hard as some days are to make dinner or plan out our meals getting on the scale or feeling my clothes get looser is soooo worth it. I plan to keep up with Paleo until our engagement photos in two weeks and am hoping to get more creative with my recipes. As great as they taste, you can only eat scrambled eggs so many times.
