It’s been awhile…
I continue to try to figure out this whole juggling two jobs, enjoying the first year of marriage, and working on my blog thing. My goal for now is to update at least twice a month. Once I get better about that I’ll increase my posts. Don’t be afraid to hold me accountable! This pretty shot above is from our Cali trip earlier in May. Can’t wait to show you everything we
Working on the house
No crazy renovations here. Paint, hanging pictures, and moving stuff around (MJ’s favorite). I’ve been giving myself little projects such as creating a mini mudroom in our entry and finishing our bathroom with prints and paintings I’ve bought over the past year. All the little touches make it that much more homey and “ours.” Our yard has been a big part of working on the house. Sometimes we do the work, other times we hire some help. Our jungle yard is on its way to being a lot more manageable and easy to maintain going forward. I finally understand what people mean by sweat equity.
Paying off debt
It’s been five years since I’ve graduated now. I’ve been out of college longer than I was in it….weird. I married a CPA so there is a big focus on paying off all our debt. If this isn’t your first time here I’m sure you remember my earlier posts. We celebrate every time another payment goes through on my student loan debt. The Dave Ramsey snowball effect was a huge help in paying off my smaller loans quickly then tackling the big one last. Fingers crossed but we should be done in the next year!
Joining Junior League
I’ve been looking for a volunteer outlet for a while now. At my job, I’m a chair for the Humane Society and help organize those efforts for my company. However, I was looking for something outside of work where I could meet new people and give back to my community. Enter Junior League. Junior League is a community of women who are focused on giving back to their local communities through volunteer work.
I can’t call this minimalism because I STILL lose things. It’s a running joke with MJ and I. Mostly, between MJ and MJ, because I put things in the weirdest spots absentmindedly and forget where they are. Most recently, a computer charger in my decorative salad bowl…oh well. I’d like to spend less time looking for things or having ah ha moments when finding something. If the shirt has been missing for two years and I re find it saying “OMG I love this shirt!” How much do I love it if I’ve been without it for so long? I’ve been downsizing for about a year now and I have a lot more to go. My next big project is our garage. I want to clean it out as MUCH as possible in the off chance that we take the plunge and turn it into a master.
